Sankar Das Sarma is Distinguished University Professor at the University of Maryland, College Park, where he has been on the physics faculty since 1980. He received his Ph.D. from Brown University in 1979. He is a widely published and highly cited theoretical condensed matter physicist with broad research interests in electronic properties of materials and nonequilibrium statistical mechanics.
