Phillip F. Schewe is chief science writer@the American Institute of Physics. His latest book is The Grid: A Journey Through The Heart of Our Electrified World (Joseph Henry Press, 2007). He has a Ph.D. from Michigan State University in particle physics and has also written plays. He is currently writing a biography of the physicist Freeman Dyson.
