Marc Ross received his Ph.D. in physics from the University of Wisconsin in 1952 and since 1963 has been a professor in the Physics Department at the University of Michigan, where he nominally retired in 2001. Before becoming involved in work on traffic safety and vehicle design, his research focused on the reduction of the negative consequences of energy use through efficiency and conservation.
