Elwyn Berlekamp, a professor of mathematics@the University of California@Berkeley, is best known for his works on games and codes. In 1960 and 1962, he was John Kelly's research assistant. In 1967, he coauthored Claude Shannon's last paper on information theory. In 1990, he managed a 55 percent gain of Jim Simons's Medallion Fund.
