Judith A. McKenzie obtained a doctorate in geology from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich in 1976. During her studies in Zurich and later, while working@the University of Florida in Gainesville, she investigated the chemical and biochemical sedimentation in both modern lakes and oceans. In 1996 she became a professor of earth system sciences@the Geological Institute@ETH.
