Alexander J. Werth is Venable Professor of Biology at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia. He has earned a PhD in organismic and evolutionary biology from Harvard University in 1992. Werth’s research focuses on the functional morphology and biomechanics of feeding in baleen and toothed whales, and on the evolution of complexity.
