Steven Kawaler is professor, and director of graduate education, in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Iowa State University in Ames. He is coauthor, with Carl J. Hansen and Virginia Trimble, of Stellar Interiors: Physical Principles, Structure, and Evolution, 2nd ed. (Springer, 2004). Kawaler also codirects the Whole Earth Telescope, an asteroseismology collaboration. As time permits, he escapes to the rhythms of the baseball diamond (mostly as a spectator these days).
