José A. Rial is a professor of geophysics@the University of North Carolina@Chapel Hill, where he directs the Wave Propagation Laboratory. He has conducted extensive research on the theoretical estimation of earthquake damage in urban areas and is author of Principles of Earth Science: A Global Perspective.
