Ancient Marine Creatures Survived Acidic Waters
Researchers say that massive volcanic eruptions about 120 million years ago spewed huge amounts of carbon dioxide into Earth's atmosphere. But a new study indicates that a group of marine creatures living at the time adapted to the resulting acidification of ocean waters.
In other news of the ancient past, lost languages may not remain lost. A new computer program has quickly deciphered a written language last used in Biblical times and likely will help in understanding other mysterious writings.
Finally, one of the oldest riddles known to man has been solved. British scientists say they've found evidence that the chicken really did come before the egg. Their conclusion is based on a study that found that a protein in the chicken's ovaries, ovocledidin-17, is vital for shell production.
