The Conrad Foundation of San Francisco has named Sigma Xi the official science advisor for the 2010 Pete Conrad Spirit of Innovation Awards, a nationwide competition for high school students. Sigma Xi members will serve as judges for the competition. On Saturday, November 14, a panel of experts will address the science and public policy of the global energy crisis as part of Sigma Xi's year-long focus on the topic. The symposium will be held during the Society's Annual Meeting in The Woodlands, Texas, near Houston. Biochemist Brandt F. Eichman at Vanderbilt University is recognized as a leader in research into the structural biology of cellular mechanisms that maintain DNA fidelity. He has been selected to receive Sigma Xi's 2009 Young Investigator Award. Every Friday, The World Science Podcast brings you the best science news from around the globe.
