Crosby is the interim vice chancellor for research and economic development at the University of Hawaii at Hilo. Petar V. Kokotovic, a professor emeritus of engineering at the University of California, Santa Barbara, is the recipient of the 2009 Monie Ferst Award from the Georgia Institute of Technology Chapter of Sigma Xi. The award honors science and engineering teachers.
