Susan E. Hough, a seismologist with the U.S. Geological Survey, focuses much of her research on intraplate earthquakes. She is the author of Earthshaking Science: What We Know (and Don't Know) about Earthquakes (2002) and Finding Fault in California: An Earthquake Tourist's Guide (2004).
