Biography

Said Shakerin is a professor of mechanical engineering at the University of the Pacific, where he was department chairman from 1995 until 1998, when he stepped down for medical reasons. He earned his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Colorado State University and is a licensed professional engineer in the state of California. He especially enjoys designing fountains with readily found objects and materials, and hopes to design a playful fountain based on the ideas of Rube Goldberg.
