Robert J. Cabin

Biography

Robert J. Cabin is a professor of ecology and environmental science at Brevard College. He lived and worked in Hawaii for five years, first as a postdoctoral fellow at the National Tropical Botanical Garden and then as a research ecologist for the U. S. Forest Service. His professional interests include ecology, environmental science and conservation biology. He is also actively involved in promoting more sustainable practices—especially carbon reduction strategies—within and beyond the greater Brevard College community. He blogs about environmental issues for the Huffington Post, and is the author of Intelligent Tinkering: Bridging the Gap Between Science and Practice (Island Press, 2011) and Restoring Paradise: Rethinking and Rebuilding Nature in Hawaii, forthcoming in summer 2013 from the University of Hawaii Press.
