Richard SmalleyBiography
Richard E. Smalley is the Gene and Norman Hackerman Professor of Chemistry and professor of physics at Rice University, where he also directs the Center for Nanoscale Science and Technology. In 1996 he shared the Nobel Prize in chemistry for the discovery of fullerenes, best known as the family of the buckyball C60. His current interests center on teh giant fullerene molecules (carbon nanotubes) and their producction and real-world applications.
