Richard S. Ostfeld is associate scientist and animal ecologist at the Institute of Ecosystem Studies. He is also adjunct associate professor of ecology and evolutionary biology at the University of Connecticut and associate member of the graduate faculty in ecology at Rutgers University. He earned his Ph.D. in zoology from the University of California at Berkeley in 1985. His primary research interests are in understanding how the population dynamics of mammals, especially rodents, affect forest dynamics and disease risk.
