Paul HicksonBiography
Paul Hickson earned a doctorate in astrophysics from the California
Institute of Technology in 1976. Soon after, he moved to the
University of British Columbia, where he remains as a professor in
the Department of Physics and Astronomy. Hickson's research
interests include the study of quasars and active galactic nuclei,
as well as the engineering of sophisticated astronomical
instrumentation. He has served in various advisory groups, including
for the twin Gemini telescopes, located in Chile and Hawaii, and for
the James Webb Space Telescope. He currently chairs the Science
Advisory Committee for the Thirty Meter Telescope. Address:
