Paul Gourley

Biography

Paul Gourley is Distinguished Member of the Technical Staff in the Biomolecular Materials and Interfaces Department at Sandia National Laboratories. Gourley is a fellow of the American Physical Society and of the Optical Society of America. He has published more than 170 papers, edited and authored three books, and holds seven U.S. patents. His current interests include biomedical applications of semiconductors and lasers, microfluidic systems, semiconductor nanolasers and broadband emitters, and solar-UV protection for skin and eyes. Sasaki obtained his Ph.D. in organic chemistry at the University of California, Irvine, in 1989. After brief research appointments with ERATO in Kurume, Japan (1989–92), and at the California Institute of Technology (1992–94), he joined Sandia in 1994.
