Michael Russelle

Biography

Michael P. Russelle is a soil scientist with the USDA Agricultural Research Service-U.S. Dairy Forage Research Center and an adjunct professor in the Department of Soil, Water, and Climate at the University of Minnesota. His goal has been to improve nitrogen cycling in livestock/cropping systems, and he is now focusing on using perennial crops to prevent and to clean up nitrate contamination of water and soil. This article is based on a presidential lecture to the University of Minnesota Chapter of Sigma Xi.
