Martin DavisBiography
Martin Davis is professor emeritus in the department of computer science and the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences at New York University. He is the author of Computability and Unsolvability (McGraw-Hill,1958; reprinted by Dover in 1983) and The Universal Computer: The Road from Leibniz to Turing (W. W. Norton, 2000), the paperback version of which is titled Engines of Logic: Mathematicians and the Origins of the Computer (W. W. Norton, 2001).
