Kellar AutumnBiography
Kellar Autumn is an associate professor of biology at Lewis &
Clark College in Portland, Oregon. After receiving his Ph.D. in 1995
from the University of California, Berkeley, he held postdoctoral
positions at the Office of Naval Research and the Museum of
Vertebrate Zoology at UC Berkeley. His research focuses on the
physiology, biomechanics and evolution of animal locomotion. Autumn
and his colleagues hold the patent for synthetic adhesives inspired
by gecko feet. He is currently collaborating with engineers to
design legged robots that can run up walls. Address: Department of
