Joachim Frank

Biography

Joachim Frank is a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Investigator at the Wadsworth Center, New York State Department of Health, and professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at the State University of New York at Albany. He is also research professor in the Department of Cell Biology at the New York University Medical School. He holds a Ph. D. in biophysics from the Technical University of Munich. His publications cover a wide range of topics in electron optics, image processing, three-dimensional reconstruction and ribosome structure and function. He received the Elizabeth Robert Cole award of the Biophysics Society for the development of single-particle methods of reconstruction and is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
