Hal Abelson

Biography

Hal Abelson is Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at MIT and a founding board member of the Free Software Foundation, Creative Commons, and Public Knowledge. He is author, with Ken Ledeen and Harry Lewis, of Blown to Bits: Your Life, Liberty, and Happiness after the Digital Explosion (Addison-Wesley, 2008); a Web site and policy blog associated with the book can be found at bitsbook.com. Abelson is also author, with Gerry Sussman and Julie Sussman, of the computer science textbook Structure and Interpretation of Computer Programs (MIT Press, 1985, second edition 1996).
