Eric Chaisson

Biography

Eric J. Chaisson is director of the H. Dudley Wright Center for Innovative Science Education at Tufts University, where he is also Research Professor of Physics and Astronomy and Research Professor of Education. He is also an Associate of the Harvard College Observatory, where he teaches introductory astrophysics, and is affiliate director of the Massachusetts Space Grant Consortion at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is the author of Cosmic Evolution: The Rise of Complexity in Nature (Harvard University Press, 2001) and The Hubble Wars: Astrophysics Meets Astropolitics in the Two-Billion-Dollar Struggle over the Hubble Space Telescope (HarperCollins, 1994). He is also the coauthor, with Steve McMillan, of the widely used textbook Astronomy Today, now in its fifth edition (Pearson Education, 2005).
