David H. DeVorkin

Biography

David H. DeVorkin is Senior Curator, History of Astronomy and the Space Sciences, at the National Air and Space Museum of the Smithsonian Institution. He is the author of Henry Norris Russell: Dean of American Astronomers (Princeton University Press, 2000). DeVorkin is also coauthor (with Robert W. Smith) of The Hubble Space Telescope: Imaging the Universe (National Geographic Society, 2004) and is the editor of Beyond Earth: Mapping the Universe (National Geographic Society, 2002). He contributes to historical scholarship in his areas of curation and recently built a free public observatory on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.
